Shaykh Mustafa Kamal Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi
Spiritual Authorization and Suhbah
Shaykh Mustafa Kamal is authorised (i.e. given formal ijazah) by his beloved murshid Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi Mujaddidi (db) in the science of tasawwuf (Islamic spirituality) to guide students on the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi spiritual path.
Shaykh Mustafa has been blessed by Allah (swt) with the opportunity to spend more than 14 years in the direct personal/khaas khidmat (service) and close prolonged suhbah of his beloved Shaykh including accompanying the Shaykh on many of his travels around the world including in the US, Africa, Europe and Asia. As a result, he has been blessed with the unique opportunity to learn from and view his Shaykh’s life from very close.
After completing his initial education in Japan, the Soviet Union (Russia), Pakistan and Canada, Shaykh Mustafa, earned a Bachelor’s in the social sciences from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a diploma in Advanced Arabic from the Institute of Languages, Qatar. In the United States, he undertook postgraduate studies in Western philosophy, jurisprudence and literature at the Graduate Institute of St. John’s College, Maryland.
Shaykh Mustafa has been a student of the sacred Islamic sciences since the age of 17 and following many years of study with ‘ulema in the Middle East and in Pakistan, was awarded a formal certification as an ‘aalim by the Wifaq ul Madaris Al-‘Arabiyyah of Pakistan.
During the course of his studies, Shaykh Mustafa studied traditional texts in a range of subjects including Arabic grammar and literature, Mantiq, Aqaid (Theology), Hanafi Fiqh, comparative Usul-ul-Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadeeth and Usul-ul-Hadeeth. Shaykh Mustafa was granted additional certifications (ijazah) in hadeeth from, amongst others, his own beloved murshid Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad (db), the muhaddith Shaykh Taqi ud Din Nadwi Al-Mazahiri of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, the Syrian muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad al-‘Awwama, and Shaykh Makki Hijazi bin Khayr Muhammad.
Upon the instruction of his Shaykh, Shaykh Mustafa has compiled several books including the following books on tasawwuf and suluk:
- Ma’ariful Suluk, a compilation in Urdu of his Shaykh’s lectures on the Maktubaat (compiled letters) of al-Imam al-Rabbani Mujaddid Alf-e-Thaani (ra),
- Madarij al Suluk, a compilation of his Shaykh’s lectures explaining the thirty-five lessons of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi Tareeqah and their foundations in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah; and
- Maqamaat al Suluk, a compilation of his Shaykh’s lectures on the ten stations on the suluk including Taubah (repentance), Inabah (turning to Allah), Zuhud (abstinence), Mujahidah (spiritual striving), Wara (scrupulousness), Sabr (patience), Shukr (gratitude), Tawakkul (reliance), Tafweed (assigning) and Reda (contentment).
He regularly travels to different countries to guide seekers on the spiritual path, deliver lectures and counsel people on how to live a spiritual life in the contemporary world.
Maulana Naeem hails from a family of ‘Ulema and Mashaikh who have a long tradition and history of serving ‘ilm and suluk. His paternal great-great-grandfather was a mureed of Maulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi (ra). His paternal great-grandfather was a student, special khaadim and khalifa-majaaz of Hazrat Allama Anwar Shah Kashmiri (ra) as well as being a khalifa-majaaz of Hazrat AbdulQadir Raipuri (ra). His grandfather was also an ‘aalim and his father is a renowned ‘aalim who is one of the earliest khulufa of Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi (db).
After memorizing the Holy Qur’an, Maulana Naeem completed the eight year traditional ‘aalim course (dars-e-nizami) from Mahad al Faqeer al Islami (the institute set up by Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi (db)). During his time at Mahad al Faqeer, due to his taqwa, his teachers appointed him as the muazzin of Jamia Zainab – the main mosque of Mahad al Faqeer al Islami. Furthermore, he graduated at the top of his class in daura-e-hadeeth and at the same time was awarded a medal by Wifaq ul Madaris for academic excellence at the provincial level.
Maulana Naeem dedicates himself full-time to Sunnah Academy and is engaged in the online teaching of the traditional Islamic sciences to students around the world.
Mufti Syed AhmedUllah
Mufti Syed AhmedUllah hails from a family of prominent ‘Ulema and Mashaih who have a long tradition and history of serving ‘ilm and suluk. After memorizing the Holy Qur’an from Madrasa Ashraful Uloom Hyderabad India, Mufti Syed AhmedUllah started his ‘aalim course at the same institution and then completed an additional four years at Madrasa Miftah ul Uloom Melvesharim India. He then completed the ‘aalim course with his first daura-e-hadeeth from Madrasa Mazahir al Ulum in Saharanpur India and his second daura-e-hadeeth from Darul Ulum Deoband India. He followed this by specializing in legal judgments (iftā’) at Madrasa Bait-ul-Uloom in Azamgadh, India and enrolled for a diploma in English language and literature at Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Center in Mumbai India. He then completed a Master’s in Arabic language and literature with an emphasis in translation from Moulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, India.
For the past few years, Mufti AhmedUllah has dedicated himself full-time to Sunnah Academy and is engaged in the online teaching of the traditional Islamic sciences to students around the world. In his spare time, he is also engaged in the translation of Persian and Arabic manuscripts on tasawwuf and suluk. He is authorized (given ijazah) by Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmed Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi (db) in the science of Tasawwuf.
Maulana Mujahed Ahmed
Maulana Mujahed Ahmed has an Aalim degree from Al-Mahad Al-Aliya Al-Islamic University in Hyderabad. He is also a Hafiz of the Holy Quran, completing his Hifz course from Ashraful Uloom (Hyderabad). Furthermore, Maulana Mujahed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Golkonda University in Hyderabad.
